The Discrete Versatility of the Safari Overshirt
When we decided to reissue a revised version of the 1960s safari shirt, we were somewhat uncertain about its usefulness in the modern world. After some experimentation with fabrics, cuts, and details, however, we realized the exact opposite.
Christakis Safari Overshirts—whether you choose linen, cotton denim, or even the wool version for the colder months—are the perfect companion for the gentleman who pays attention to his style.
Its versatile character is evident in the way it blends casual with “sartorial,” offering smart combinations while replacing the classic jacket. It can be worn over a shirt and tie, or simply over a T-shirt with cotton chino trousers, and still maintain its refined appearance.

Cut entirely by hand and sewn at the Christakis workshop in Athens, it features four “Brocca” pockets—two lower pockets and two on the chest. Straight lines and curves come together to create an elegant, updated result. Traditional stitching and the careful selection of materials define the iconic character of the Christakis Safari. The fabric must be soft yet with the right drape and a substantial hand, while the natural quality of the buttons is essential as the final touch.
As expected, the Safari overshirt has become one of the most beloved garments made in our historic Athenian workshop.
