The Discrete Versatility of the Safari Overshirt
When we decided to reissue a revised version of the 1960s safari shirt, we were somewhat unsure about its practicality
in the modern world. After a few experiments with fabrics, cuts, and details, however, we realized the exact opposite.
Christakis Safari Overshirts—whether you choose linen, cotton denim, or even the wool version for the colder months—are
the perfect companion for the style-conscious gentleman.
Its versatile character is evident in the way it blends casual with “sartorial,” allowing smart combinations and even replacing the classic jacket. It can be worn over a shirt and tie or simply over a T-shirt with cotton chino trousers, while maintaining its refined aesthetic.
Entirely hand-cut and sewn in the Christakis workshop in Athens, it features four “Brocca” pockets—two lower and two on the chest. Straight lines and curves come together to deliver an elegant, updated result. Traditional tailoring and a careful selection of materials define the iconic character of the Christakis Safari. The fabric must be soft yet have the right drape and a full hand-feel, while the natural quality of the buttons is essential as a final touch.
Naturally, the Safari overshirt has become one of the most beloved garments made in our historic Athenian workshop.
