Our Story
“The moment we have objects that last longer and remain captivating, fashion immediately stops. We must measure beauty according to the principles of time.”
It all started when…
When Christakis arrived in Athens from Constantinople in 1934, he dedicated himself to the craft of shirtmaking. His constant commitment to quality was so evident that his handmade shirts soon earned the trust of the most important figures of the time. As the decades passed, his reputation went beyond borders and he came to be regarded as an expert in menswear. By strictly selecting the finest fabrics from leading Swiss mills and tailoring them with great skill, Christakis became “the most renowned shirtmaker in Athens.”
We tailor your experience
Nearly seven decades later, the House of Christakis remains at 5 Kriezotou Street, in the very building where the renowned workshop continues to produce every shirt in the same handmade way. A new location has also been added in Kifisia, at 9 Kolokotroni Street, making Christakis handmade pieces available there as well.
Under the leadership of Christakis’ daughter, Vicky, and his grandsons, Antonis and Christos Nyfli, the house preserves the values that established it. Trained as shirt cutters alongside their uncle, Master Shirt Cutter Nikos Fotakis, their constant goal is to help people embrace the tailoring heritage of the House.
